Federal for rifles. Sellier and Belliot for handguns.

For punching holes in paper, I use Wolf 223 & 9 mm.

For hunting I use Hornady rifle ammo. Federal turkey loads. Fiocchi for pheasant.

Aguila, PMC, UMC, Blazer, Federal, Remington, Winchester, Fiocchi all make good plinking ammo.

I only need one box of defensive ammo in ever caliber I own, no need to scrimp there. For my training and plinking needs, the only thing I look for is "cheap". Surplus, Tula, Wolf, who ever can give me the most bangs for the buck.

For defense, Hornady, Winchester, Remington, Federal, Speer. They're all good. If there is actually a difference between any of them, it's academic and irrelavent in real worlds shooting.

For practice, Wolf, Tulammo, Brown Bear, etc.

W-W white box, Remington UMC and Federal American Eagle are good if you reload. They are a good bit more expensive than the steel cased Russian ammo.

SD/HD = Hornady CD or TAP/ Federal Hydrashock. Practice = what ever cheap FMJ I can get I've had 5 Tula's that FTF but that's about it considering I've used more than 300 rounds of just Tula in one sitting, no FTF with Winchester white's or Federal eagles.
