Your Preferred Brand of Ammo Any Caliber
I'm seriously thinking of buying bulk ammo. Currently I have 9mm, 38spl and 357, and 20 gauge. Hornady Critical Defense seems to be the best for SD but what brand(s) do you use for practice?
Thanks in advance for your help! |
Winchester white box or Remington UMC

For pistols for plinking WWB. For pistols for SD definitely Hornady XTP. For rifles Hornady or Remington.

My favorite ,357 Magnum Load is S&B 158 gr. There are 2 or 3 different 158 gr loads sold for S&B but one goes at 1400 fps!. As fast as a lot 125 gr load.
It is amid range ot lower mid rnage priced ammo with 688 lbft of energy and FMJ. A round with that much energy does not need to be HP to be effective on target. But it has such high penetration for a handgun round with the energy of a lower end 44 Mag but concentrated in a much smaller area with a FMJbi metal jacket backed up by a steel core. This gives you tactical options that do not exist for many other handgun rounds. I leave the rest up to your imagination. |
For the 9mm and 380 I prefer Aguila. It burns clean, functions well and is combat accurate. I haven't tested it for accuracy. For the big bore wheelguns in 357 and 44 double tap cast is the most accurate for me. I don't shoot wadcutters or light loads in my hunting weapons. I might try some light loads for the zombie competitions.

I prefer Federal American Eagle

Any caliber Federal

The cheapest US made ammo I can find. I know other countries produce quality stuff, but I always try to support US manufacturing jobs.
