5.56mm cycles more reliably with our guns.

I sometimes use 223 as a canary in the coal mine ammo on a new gun, to see if its undergassed in any way or if the Buffer is too heavy.

since the 223 is more marginal ( though usually functional) in an AR its a good test. I know if my AR can cycle 223 fine it will be able to cycle my 5.56 even after it gets al ittle dirty.

Same here, I bought up quite a bit of that X-Tac 55gr.

Sadly, I can only shoot frangible ammo at my local range, so for that I shoot SSA's 55 grain frangible, which cycles every bit was well as the X-Tac, far better than that crap Fiocci 42 grain frangible.

What about the PMC X-Tac 62g?....much difference? I'm having a hard time finding the 55g in stock but do see the 62g

The 62 is even more liked by some ay least it usually costs more.
both will fire fine out of 1 in7 and 1 in 9 barrells

For HD, it's hard to beat Hornady 55 grain TAP.

M193 ball isn't bad. It fragments pretty well at short range.
