There are no conspiracies.
The supply can't keep up with the demand. The manufacturers are going 24/7. Just like in '94, it will take 12-24 months for the panic to die down.
But it will die down, and ammo will once again be readily available in umlimited quantity.
AND HOPEFULLY THIS TIME MOST OF YOU WILL HAVE THE GOOD SENSE TO STOCK UP!!
Because thre Will be a next time!

Will it end? Yes, at some point. When will that be? Most likely not less than 8-12 months down the road. But, at the same time, I think you'll see a permanent increase in price. Not the current prices, but after things settle down and rounds are back in stock I think you'll see cases of 1000 in say, the .223/5.56 caliber at $400. I don't find it likely that it will ever be under
.40 a round for brass AR ammo anymore. The days of inexpensive shooting seem to be over. I mean, there are many, many vendors out there quoting 8 months on backorder or more. Given that the frenzy will continue eating up any amount of stock that can be shipped for at the least, say another 60-120 days (and considering now that it has expanded into almost all handgun rounds on top of the .223/5.56 and .308, .300) If stocks don't start to increase, I think you will see shotgun rounds start running short. There is only so much that can be made at any given time. They'll make more of the most profitable rounds in the short run, while shipping enough of the other rounds to keep the market alive. It's the end of pricing as we knew it.

Whoa... step back from the computer, take a deep breath, and remember "this too shall pass".

If the prices really do increase significantly, you'll see Wolf, Tula, etc become much more popular.

And reloading systems. I'm trying to figure out where I can put a setup.

What I did was mount my press and powder measure to a board. Then I can use case clamps to attach that to my computer desk or work bench in the garage. It works really well. Probably not as stable as mounting it to something but I don't need to support it when I'm resizing. (the step with the most resistance)

I made into town today. Stopped by the LGS. They had sold 14 firearms today. Mostly handguns they were out of semiauto rifles. The manager said they were running 7 a day on average. This is a very rural small town. They had just recieved an order of Walther pistols from S&W. So they are shipping. They had two fellows from Arizona buy $3,000 bucks worth of ammo. Hell if this was GMC Obama would give them a free loan to hire more clerks.
