American Eagle hollow points have been 40/box since they came out 20 years ago. The solids are 50/box.

22lr has become an investment commodity that can be traded, resold or just stored away. It has no shelf life. 10 cents a round, or more, won't dissuade some buyers because, for one, they have no intention of shooting it. They can buy at say, 12 cents a round and sell it for 20 when the panic starts again. There are also just too many people who have suffered thru the past 2-3 years without ammo and are unable to pass up any opportunity to put another box in the safe. Shooters who used to keep 100 rounds for plinking now believe they need 3-4k stockpiled. 22 rifles and handguns are probably more widespread than any other caliber. Good for plinking, excellent for hunting small game, and a defense round if need be. The "shortage" really isn't a shortage at all, but it isn't the doings of the government or the suppliers, it is us, and the lack of inventory and the inflated pricing are just the new normal.
