Where do you get your lead?
Due to the wisdom of the federal government my main source of lead is disappearing. I was getting it from wheel weights, but with the new composition that is changing. So besides buying it where do you get your lead?

As far as cheap to free? never did that. I bought mine in ingots a few years ago and don't even remember what I paid.

Lead sources that I know of:
Fishing weights
Wheel weights (not anymore apparently)
There are weights in some pellet guns and airsoft guns for realistic handling (it's probably cheaper to get it elswhere)
Some electronics in small amounts (maybe one bullet per 10 cellphones)
Recycling centers may be able to help you out. No idea on quality though.

I went around begging tire shops and after about 10 tries found stick on type 150lbs for $25.

I traded the stick ons for for clip ons on cast

Time before that I just got lucky by asking and got them free.

I am going to try a few places but I may just buy ingots online for ~$1 per lb.

Ask around the tire shops and scrounge what I can. Metal recycling center sels virgin sheet lead for about $.75/lb and clip on weights for abour $.60/lb.

I found a guy near here that had a bunch of linotype for $.50/lb. I bought 400 lbs. Should have bought 600.

Rotometals has a good variety. I get 50/50 bar solder from them to add some tin to the wheel weights.
