They are not different.
The Max case length for the 308 Win is 2.015 inches. Lyman shows this in the cartridge drawing at the beginning of the 308 Data.
Lyman also list the "Trim-to-Length" of 2.005 inches. That is the Min you should trim your brass to. Most all bottle necked rifle cartridges have a "Trim-to-Length" that is .010 less than their SAAMI Max.
You do not have to trim your brass to 2.005 every time you size it and load it as long as it is under 2.015. Your brass can be anywhere between 2.015 and 2.005.
For best accuracy it's best to have them all the same length, but not a requirement.
..I am confused as to the COL beetween one manuals suggestion and the other....Lyman suggest 2.005 case length and Richard lee's book suggests 2.015
BTW, COL stands for Cartridge Overall Length and is used to describe a completed round with bullet. When referring to an empty case it is simply called "Case Length".
