Virgin Brass
I got my Winchester 50 empty cases of virgin brass for my .308 today, I tend to be a little over cautious about my reloading so I pulled each piece out and inspected them. What I found was not a major issue but people new to reloading should be made aware of it so they know what to look for.

The brass is sized from the factory but the case mouths were out of round and some were slightly bent, not to mention they were burred at the case mouth. Be sure to run them through the resizing die anyway to make sure the case mouth is round and sized as they should be, then trim the cases anyway and deburr.

All new brass is final tumbled before packaging and shipment. Between the tumbling, handling, packaging, shipment, etc the mouths will get a little dinged.

For rifle brass I resize it and chamfer and debur the case mouth along with deburing the flash hole.

After that it is game on and lets reload.

Good Advice,
I've found that a lot of new brass I buy varies greatly in OAL. So I always run it through the trimmer too.

I treat my new/fresh brass just like those already fired. Re-size, trim to length, primer pockets etc. That way I have NO variables to speak of.

I resize all my brass just to make sure. Good advise opaww.
