Default Using Dies on different calibers

Can I use .38 special dies to reload .38 S&W or .38 Long Colt? Ive never seen those two sets of dies and would like to reload them for my Medusa...

How about 9mm (9x19) dies on 9x21 or 9x23?

Or do I have to continue my never ending search for the dies too?

38 spl is .358 , 38 s&w is .361. Short answer no.

On the 9mm, yes.

I once knew a gunsmith who used to load 6mm Remington with.243 dies. Of course he could only neck size the brass and other than that, it worked. Not sure about the pistol dies.

Nope- not on the .38s. Research bullet diameter, not the name of the cartridge.

you might not be able to fully resize the larger 9m/m's with the 9x19 dies. But it would still work. You can use your 38 special (or 357) dies for .38 short Colt or .38 Long Colt but you would not be able to crimp the shorter cases. With no crimp you might have to shoot them single shot as the bullets would maybe work forward from the recoil (might still work as these are very mild loadings).

So where do they send the poor and insane?.. I have the feeling this guns going to make me both....

Found the dies.. looks like 9mm does 9x19, 9x21 and depending on the set 9x23... .38 short colt and long colt use the same dies.. and nothing shares with the .38 S&W..

Looks like I may have to find some older books as well, I dont have any listings for .38 short/long colt, or .38 S&W

So, the quest continues.......

Looks like Mr. Phillips made a mistake... The .38 S&W IS listed in the acceptable calibers for the Medusa. But the Medusa has a bore size of .355-.357.. The .38 S&W is .361 wouldnt that be too big? Thats about the size of the 9mm Markarov (.363) and I know it doesnt shoot that...

Well if anybody needs any .38 S&W brass, I have a ton of it....
