Default Unique, 9MM, & Compressed Load?

Hi guys...

I'm fairly new to reloading, 45 ACP so far without issue, and today I reloaded my first 9 MM. Here's what I loaded:

115 Grain Hornady JHP XTP
5.9 Grains of Unique
Winchester WSP Primer
1.075 C.O.L

Here's my issue... I have both a Sierra reloading book and a Hornady book. The Sierra book shows a range for Unique powder from 4.9 to 6.6 Grains for a 115 Grain JHP, with a 1.050 C.O.L. The Hornady book doesn't show any data for Unique with this bullet, but it shows the C.O.L at 1.075. When I charged the case with 5.9 Grains, it almost filled up the case (I weighed it at least a dozen times to make sure I wasn't reading it wrong). I tapped the case a little to settle the powder, but I believe it still got compressed when I seated the bullet. I chose to seat the bullet to 1.075 C.O.L as per the Hornady book.

My main question - does anyone feel this may not be a safe load?
Second - is it even possible to put 6.6 Grains of Unique in a 9 MM Luger case? (no, I'm not going to try it... I'm just curious)
Third - If this load is ok, when should I get concerned with a compressed load?

I know there are more than a few other powders out there I could use instead of Unique, but for now I'd like to stick with Unique.

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well, take a look at the load data from your powder maker-

Alliant Powder - Reloader's Guide

They are showing a max load of Unique as 6.3 grains, but OAL as 1.125.
What we have here is... failure- to communicate.
