Tulammo for .30 carbine
I have been told its ok to use tulammo .30 carbine steel cased ammo for my m1A... Should I? Or am I going to have FTF/FTE?

steel cased bullets shouldnt just sit in a hot un-chromed chamber. the coating will migrate from the case to the steel chamber walls and can in extreme cases cause fail to extract. thats why some ar15 can run steel case and some have problems.
if yours isnt chromed in the chamber just dont let it get hot and you will be fine.

I have a thread about the tulammo currently going on. I was unfamiliar with the brand and before I used it, wanted opinions as well. There seems to be a lot of mixed emotion about it. And from what I gathered, its a 50/50 split. It seems you may get a good box with no FTF/FTE or an entire box of dog crap. Ibe got about 200rds of tulammo in 7.62x39 for my SKS. Im hoping to unload some of it tomorrow.

I had never heard this before and im glad you mention it. That explains a good bit of a few guys telling me tulammo wouldn't work with some.. but most with SKS chrome lined barrels had no problems.

The SKS and AK were designed for laquered stel case ammo. They work fine with it. IMHO the tapered case of the two major Russian rounds is much more conducive tolaquered steel than the relatively straight body of the US rounds (5.56, 7.62 X 51 and .30 Carbine). I have never heard of complaints of problems in 7.62 X 39 AR's, but lots of complaints about 5.56 iin AR's. I think it is more case design than gun design

We've put a few boxes through a carbine without problem. But we don't rapid fire the thing. Usually 5-shot strings taking the time to aim.
