I agree w/your calendar if not your adjective. As of the November '12 (re)election people began walking to the stores to buy guns and ammo. With Sandy Hook five weeks later this became a run. NY State's passing the most draconian gun-control laws in the country overnight as a basically unannounced and undebated "emergency measure" a few weeks later, at the same time Obama signed 23 promised Executive Orders on gun control (days before he was sworn in again), gave us a full-fledged panic. And rightfully so.

However much ammo you need, I agree, now is not the time to buy quantity if you have what you already consider a minimum, respectable, amount. Let's face it -- if you have a gun and no ammo to speak of you'll pay anything for some.

Wait 9-12 months until supply catches up with demand, and prices come back to normal.

IMHO, 200 rounds per shotgun and rifle, 100 rounds per handgun, is all you'll need for defense/hunting. .22 LR, I would think a 500 round brick.

After you have that much, think about what recreational shooting you do, and stock enough for a full year.
When you go home, tell them of us and say:

"For your tomorrow, we gave our today."
