As most of you know, the government is starting to get more strict on gun laws and rumors have wen gone around that they are tying to ban guns. My parents said thy are starting to stock up with about 10 boxes of ammunition for each gun we have (two 12 gauges would mean 20 12 gauge boxes). I'm not sure if anyone else is doin this but I wanted to find out what you all though of the idea.

Most people seem to consider sitting on 1000 rounds per gun a decent start.

I was starting with 500 rounds for hand guns and 1000 for rifles. Now going for a min of 1000 for all guns.

I would say that you don't get out much. Most of the gun stores and WalMart have pretty bare shelves. Panic buying started the day after the school shootings in Newtown. SERIOUS ammo shortage due to panic buying. On line sales out of stock/ back ordered. Reloading components (primers especially) gone. Set ne records for guns sales in past 2 months.

I have 2,500 22lr and 600 9mm. Wife said that a 1,000 of each would make her happy. Happy wife happy life they say. Problem is finding them.

Panic buying started after the Devil was re-elected 1,000 is nothing, that might keep me for three months at the range, but only if I really pace myself

Well I mean stocked up for hunting, self defense, or any other necessity purposes. I could see you holding more if you did recreational shooting but I meant for other reasons.

I'm pretty well stocked. But wish I had more 22lr.
Now is not the time to stock up.

We are stocked up well on 5.56, 308, 30/06, and 12 gauge. But we could be better on 40 and 9mm (only 500rds each). I don't worry too much about the handgun rounds for shtf. Because if I let somebody get that close, then it probably wont turn out well for me. 22lr is at 5,000+ rds right now, but my wife and I shoot that alot so I'm waiting for that to work itself out before I shoot much more of that. Right now I wouldn't buy much until the price drops unless you don't have a choice. Personally we built our stash over the years.
