Just bought some Remington brass for a gun I am finishing up and had to cull 4 pieces out of each bag of 50 because the case necks were folded over. You might call Starline and talk to them. they might send you some spare cases......

Maybe had seething to do with the crimping? I had brass split and ended not going bang. But I had a squib in my barrel. Thank goodness it sounded funny or I would have shot again

I don' think any brass is thinner than 44-40 and I've loaded mine many times without cracking/splitting any. The only problem I've had were a few out of a 500 round box that weren't formed.

I have been using Starline bras for my .44 mag loads. I shoot them through a Super Blackhawk with a 7.5-inch barrel. I have been using H110, 296 and Lil Gun powder in these loads. I usually load in the mid range. I haven't experienced any problems after a couple hundred of rounds shot through my gun.
