Default SHORTAGES: Offical Responces from Ammo Manufactures

Sent out some inquires to a few manufactures to try to figure some of these issues out.

  • Why have prices doubled-tripled-quadrupled?
  • If it's purely a supply / demand, who are the demanders? or is it regulations?
  • How long do we see this ammo crisis going on?

From PMC

Quote:
Due to the unprecedented demand for ammunition this year we have not been
able to keep up with orders. This demand has been primarily caused by
consumers concerned about possible legislation on firearms or other
regulations that may be limit the availability. How long this situation will
last is anyone's guess. Check with your local dealer and see if he can order
PMC ammunition for you from one of his distributors. There are also dealers
who sell PMC Ammunition through the internet.
PMC is shipping ammunition to our distributors monthly. We plan to ship more
ammunition in 2013 than any other year, but we know there will be a
shortage.
Thank you for your interest in PMC. PMC Ammunition USA does not have a
retail web site for the direct purchase of ammunition. Retail prices of
ammunition are set by the Sporting Goods dealer.

Gloves, hope this answers some of your questions.

We are currently experiencing high demand for our products. We appreciate your patience and support and remain committed to serving all of our customers.

Q: Why is ammunition in certain calibers so hard to find?
A: The current market and environment is causing stronger than usual demand for products in our industry.

Q: Are certain contracts taking ammunition away from civilians?
A: No. We remain committed to serving all channels of our business.

Q: Why can't you just make more ammunition?
A: Our facilities operate 24-hours a day. We are continually making process improvements to increase our efficiency and investing in capital and personnel where we have sustained demand. We are bringing additional capacity online again this year.

Q: What is your stance on the current gun legislation?
A: We, like most major manufacturers in our industry, are members of the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF). This organization also represents our industry and the interests of companies and customers in legislative matters. Information can be found at www.nssf.org.

Dear Blazer,
Can you explain why I can't find the ammo I want at the locations I previously had not problem finding them at........People are hoarding ammo.

Also, why have prices doubled-tripled-quadrupled?..............people hoarding ammo.

If it's purely a supply / demand, who are the demanders? (people/government?) or is it regulations?.........The public hoarding ammo.

How long do we see this ammo crisis going on?............................Till people stop hoarding ammo.

Ammo shortage ... has anyone taken into consideration why that might be; or what might largely be the cause of the shortage (besides worried consumers) when they figure into their calculations the DHS buying 1.6 Billion ammo, and another order for 21.6 million, now totaling over 2 billion at last estimation. I mean, are we kidding ourselves? Do we not see the elephant in the living room?

Well since the answer is "we can't make them fast enough" and not "we can't get the material to make them", AND since I've heard the us government buys from government only manufactures, I think the 1.6B thing isn't too important. Concerning? Yes. Economically important? No.

The government is only buying certain types of ammo too, such as 40 cal etc. That wouldn't explain the 22lr shortage and just about any other type of ammo as well.

The people buying up all the ammo and then selling at inflated prices in the problem. There is plenty of ammo out there to buy If you want to spend $1 a round.

Go to gun broker and look at the 9mm 100 round packs that usually sell at Walmart for $20. They are all on gunbroker for triple the price.

The DHS ain't using 22 shorts, longs or long rifle, 7.62x39, 5.45x39, steel cased 223 or any other steel cased ammo for that matter.

Yet it is unavailable... The problem isn't the fed, it's the civilian market. Hoarding and people buying it up to gouge

Seems to me people need to take responsibility for their actions...

It isn't going to stop until WE do.

Please be quiet. I don't mean to be rude, but it's gotten to the point where I'm ready to curse people out. OF COURSE ammo is available. It's still being manufactured isn't it? Demand is through the roof and thus the higher price. This is a GOOD thing. The high prices stifles those that don't need the ammo right away from buying, leaving it available for those who need it most. Such as the thousands if not millions of new gun owners who now need ammo. Be glad to have them on your side.

Go shoot your shotgun or something... That's what I'm doing.
