Sellier & Bellot-----Holy Cow!
I bought some of this stuff for $29.99 a box of 50 in .44 mag soft point expecting to get what I pay for,but after shooting it and getting 2"DA groups at 7 yards and 2"SA groups at 15 yards from my 6" 629,and finding mangled rounds up to .85" in the dirt,I decided this is my hunting round this year,my gun was even clean after shooting it.I'd much rather spend $0.60 a round than $1 a round for Hornady or even $2 a round for Cor-Bon.I have a pic of the rounds next to a .38 I pulled out of the same dirt pile.

Yeah most any factory .44mag in standard weight is going to be a good load.

I shoot S&B in .357 magnum. Yeah it's good ammo.
Also Fiocchi too. I pick these up at gun shows, cant seem to find them in any stores.

I know it's not ballistics gel,but I feel like it's some indication of what to expect from what I pull out of my dirt pile,I tried Magtech also and the Magtech 240gr was only expanded to about .60",now the jackets on the Magtech were intact as where the jackets on the S&B were all coming off,but it don't really bother me with .85" expansion.

BTW I want to clarify that I meant any factory "magnum" load. I don't know if I can think of any that uses non-expanding 240gr bullet designs. Some will perform better than others (the XTPs are some of the best bullets around in .44, based on hundreds of anecdotes I researched a while back), but it is really rare you won't get decent expansion and reasonable bullet integrity. With the lighter 180gr bullels, sometimes you'll get some fragmentation (which can be a good or bad thing, depending on what you want to do).
And yeah, especially for more moderate-sized animals like whitetail [or humans], even an over-expanding and / or separating 240gr bullet will penetrate adequately.

I would much rather dig out the round at the far left...if it was in ME.

I had heard that Magtech bought S&B and wondered if that would impact quality one way or the other.

When I run out of targets I sometimes take aim on small trees in my shooting area in my woods,check out this jacket I found on the ground with wood fibers stuck in the back-ouch!

IMHO, S & B ammo is very good. ive shot it out of my 9mm and .40 and love it. its pretty clean and comes at a really cheap price compared to some others. ive also shot magtech and have been satisfied with them. think S & B are just a little nicer

S&B is some if the best inexpensive ammo out there. Shoots well. Shoots clean.

I have always had good luck with S&B. I have used there 45 acp, 25acp, 38spc and 12 gauge 00 buckshot.
