Default round listing

is there a place you can go look up what rounds are safe to fire in a particular gun in chart form?

Not sure I understand. You can expect that any factory ammo will be safe to fire in any gun that was originally chambered for it IF the gun is in good condition. That's why factory ammo for some cartridges, 6.5 x 55, 7x 57 mauser and .30-06 for instance are loaded down quite a bit below what modern rifles can handle.

There are a very few exceptions for some really old cartridges such as the .45-70 but the ammo box will have proper limitations noted on it for what it is safe to use in.

Nothing is safe if the gun is not in good condition. ??

Not in chart form, but most load manuals will say what guns are safe or unsafe for certain loads. Hornady lists if I remember three load levels for the 45-70 & tells what guns are safe with each. Certain handguns are not meant to fire a steady diet of +p ammo & the owners manuals usualy state that.

There is a chart somewhere if I could only remember where I saw it. I believe I understand what you are asking as far as interchangeability. Like the 6mm Rem/244 Rem and 280Rem/7mm Express etc.
