reuse primers?

First time using lee collet dies and didnt have them adjusted properly so i pulled some bullets and resized the case neck and in the process deprimed cases. Can I still reuse the unfired primers that I popped out of the cases. They dont look crushed or anything.

Why would they be duds?

I've reused primer like that on occasion and never had any issues at all they always went bang. I generally set those few primers aside and use them for plinking ammo instead of hunting or SD purposes.

I choose to not reuse primers that have been removed from cases. I just don't want to do anything that might compromise the powder ignition and combustion process.

I have re used them a few times with out a problem. I would think if they end up as duds it would be from the repeated handling and the oils from your hands that would contaminate them rather than simply pushing them in and out of the case once.

I reused only one primer, Just removed it from one case and put it in another.. It was the only reload of mine that didnt work..

Primers are a lot harder to kill than you would imagine. Simple handling a primer want make it inert unless you knock the anvil off.

Back in the old days I handled every single primer by hand loading on my single stage press and never had a dud,the only duds I have ever had were with factory loaded ammo.

As long as the primer isn't deformed in any way,you can re-use it.
I can't count how many primers that I've knocked out and reused in all the years that I've reloaded.I have never had a dud because of it.

Primers are cheap. Chuck em! One dreaded hangfire and you will wish you weren't such a tightwad.
