Remington Express .45 Colt Ammo

Just came back from G.A.T. Guns in Dundee, Il. I've been wanting to do something with this stuff for a while now, which is clock it out of a couple SA revolvers, one with a 5-1/2" barrel, the other a 7-1/2". I'd heard it was coming thru downloaded for liability reasons & wanted to find out for myself. This is standard velocity ammo, not what some derisively call mouse-fart. I don't have any idea how many of you guys shoot this caliber, but for anyone who might be interested, as soon as the weather warms up a little, I'm goin to the Bristol, WI range. I'll post my results asap. jd45

im about 20ish miles from bristol :) this is the range i like best McMiller Sports Center Official Website they dont take mag limitations to ridiculous extremes like bristol does. 15-300yard rifles 15-25yard pistol.

Thanx for the tip Jon. I'll check the site out asap. BTW, have you read my reply to your 460 thread? jd45

Well Jon, I went to their site, then I looked at my road atlas & determined it'd be about the same distance to McMiller from Bristol as from my house to Bristol, doubling the mileage roughly, about 200 roundtrip. If you're 20ish miles from Bristol, in the general direction of Waukesha, God bless ya. With the situation getting worse by the day, I'm gonna have to go to Bristol & cut down on the frequency to boot. I do appreciate you telling me about it, tho. jd45

Remington Express .45 Colt Ammo

Here's my results from chronographing it in my 3 revolvers:
#1-EMF Hartford SAA, 5-1/2"-.454" barrel; .454" chamber throats
1-823fps; 2-848fps; 3-826fps; 4-814fps; & 5-825fps
#2-Uberti 1858 Remington C&B, 7-1/2" with R&D cartridge conversion cylinder
.454" barrel, & .454" chamber throats
1-863fps; 2-800fps; 3-815fps; 4-844fps; & 5-865fps
#3-Uberti USFA OMNI-POTENT TARGET, 7-1/2"-.4515" barrel, & .4525 chamber throats
1-905fps; 2-891fps; 3-901fps; 4-878fps; & 5-903fps
I think the tighter barrel & chamber throats on this one produce the higher velocities.
The advertized velocity for this load, with a 250GR bullet, is 860fps from a 5"
barrel. jd45
