Ya Done Good.

Now how about the details of your load and the rifle?

Did you get a chance to shoot these over a Chrony?

Ok...I was using like I said sierra 168gr game kings loaded with 44grains of AR2208(equivalent) IMR4064 with FEDERAL 210 primers using a HOWA 308 1500 stainless barrell...I did not get to use a chrony,I did do several dummy rounds with a ink jet marker the night before to find the lands of the rifle...I did back it off .015 off the lands and have been told that I really don't need that much,I also trimmed each case back to 2.005 and full length resized all the brass using RCBS dies....in all and all I'm pretty happy with my efforts being my first loads..I couldn't have done it without all the help and knowledge that I have obtained from each and everyone of you guys, once again I thank you all...I still believe I need a little more refinement, that will come all in good time.....cheers

I believe my first handloads were fired out of a rifle that I held at arms' length as far away from my face as I could get it. When it did not blow up, I was mighty pleased.

Sounds to me like you did better than that. Congrats. It is a fascinating hobby.

Wouva, ya done real good! not bad grouping either.

as suggested once sighted in move to another target and fire your groups.

i make my rifle tagets for load development on poster board from the Dollar Store. i can buy two for a dollar. i mark off and put either five or six 3" round circles on the board. i use one circle for each five shot group i make. i write notes on the target next to them an the order they were done to mark my progress. i write the notes down in a notebook so thati can reference it later or if i want to duplicate a particular load. another suggestion. only make one change at a time to not confuse the results. if working with a powder and working on powder charges, use one powder in different powder charges for that one bullet weight and use the same bullet. making only one change at a time will allow you to track your results much better and let you see what is aiding accuracy or hindering it.
