Hey mister moderator, just a thought from lowly me, how bout a specific reloading tab? I like hunting, but this doesn't really fit. Anyway, I've never reloaded for shotguns, does it really give an advantage over factory shells? Better velocity? Cleaner shots? Better spread patterns? I hardly shoot shotguns anyway, but maybe this is why? Anyway, thoughts?

That would be up to Admin (folks that own the place- we just try to keep the bathrooms cleaned, and the panhandlers outside)

Advantages are cost, and being able to load exactly what you want in a shell.

Well, there it is. Thought I looked through them all but I was mistaken. Thanks

Just not much for shotgun reloaders on here?

OK, now to address the original post...I reload both metallic cartidges and shotshells. I can load 12 ga field loads for about the cost of the generic, bargain basement shells. The difference is, I get premium performance from my loads. I use AA wads for good, consistent patterns those "dove and quail" loads can never match.

I also cast my own buckshot and slugs. I can load high performance zombie ammo for a fraction of factory loads.

I've heard you can only reload high brass shells? Do they sell empty shells? How much does a good press run?

You can reload high brass, low brass, all brass or no brass. You can reload folded crimp, 6 point, 8 point and roll crimp. You can buy new empty hulls, load your once fired hulls or buy once fired hulls. Only compression formed one piece hulls should be reloaded (my opinion). Winchester AA type, Remington RXP type and Federal Gold Medal type are the most popular.

A decent loader will cost you about 100 bucks or so. The Lee loader works for less than 50. Stick with MEC. Their loaders are the standard by which others are judged. The 600 Jr. is a good loader for little money. Look for a used one at Evilbay or other online auction sites.
