I am having an issue with my new RCBS Trim Pro. The cutter head doesn't remove any material from the cases, it just pushes the brass back on the case mouth leaving a ring that needs to be removed with a hand chamfer/ de burriing tool. The cases were about .004"-.005" long and I am getting very little, if any, "shavings". I have tried to trim about 50 cases so far and there are barely any visible particles on the bench top. The face of the cutter appears to be perfectly square and seems to be just forcing the case mouth back, leaving the excess as a ring on the outside, and a smaller amount on the inside of the case mouth. I can only imagine that the cutter head was machined wrong? Otherwise the set up works fine, but I figured for the price, I should not have to spend close to a minute on each case with the hand chamfer tool. Maybe just send the cutter back? Thanks.

which direction are you turning the handle?

Clockwise. It takes an aweful lot of pressure.

Call RCBS @ 1-800-533-5000. They'll probably tell you to send the cutter head back for sharpening.

You are using a pilot button to guide the head in, right?

Thanks G21. I will call them. I have the .30 caliber pilot in there and everyting lines up, just doesn't cut. I appreciate your help on something so trivial.
