Default primer shortage has been going on for a year?

By now I expected this primer shortage to be easing up but it hasnt. The military and the public must be stockpiling ammo like crazy.

"The military and the public must be stockpiling ammo like crazy."

It ain't just primer's and it's been well over a year.

It started when it became clear that far too few would vote for the Repub. establishment's annointed "moderately " progressive liberal, Jonny Mc, that was expected to attract hordes of "independant" voters. He didn't. Nor did he attract much of his supposed "base". Since then a fear of a hard core liberal/progressive lock on the federal govenment has kept concerns up. They WILL get to us. As soon as they finish bankrupting the nation, our federal masters will surely attack our ability to defend ourselves from themselves. People know it, so the concerns are justified.

But, foundation causes of the fear aside, I have never believed the military has anything significant to do with it, it's the hoarders in our own midst that's driving the shortages. Eventually they will run out of money or storage space and it will stop.

Douche bag hoarders really piss off legitimate stockpilers like me.

I can find most primers, I just have to pay too much for them.

I've been able to get primers fairly easy the last 3 or 4 months here in Cali. at my local sporting good shop. Guess I'm lucky.

Hoarders piss me off as well as I shoot off most all my ammo and dont stockpile.

I picked up 500 Large Rifle primers at my local range this afternoon. I tried to buy the full case of 1,000, but they had a 5 box limit. Things seem to be getting better. It is still buy what you can find (I usually use CCI, but have been buying MagTech and Federal when I could find them). I am now getting deliveries on primers from Cabela's that I ordered 6 months ago.

I'm with robo, I can find them but not at a price I'm willing to pay. I understand they might be slightly higher then normal but not what people are asking.

I'm really glad I stockpiled with several cases of each type of primers and multiple 8lb jugs of powder THREE years ago when they were at 'normal' prices. What shortage?

Well, the shortage may be getting over. My local Mom and Pop gun store had pretty full primer shelves the last time I was in.

And what were the prices on those primers?? Powder Valley and Graf's are fair priced. A lot of the others are not-including my local Gander Mtn.
