Powder shelf life

Upon opening my Dad's ammo locker, after his passing, we found several partial pounds of his powders. Bullseye, 231, and what looks like mil spec Ball C? It has always been cool, dry, and in a footlocker with other ammo supplies. Is it any good for shooting, or only bottle rockets?

As long as it doesn't have a fine reddish rust color dust and doesn't smell, it should be okay.

Properly stored powder lasts dang nigh forever.

Yep, shiny gray, no odor. I'll try a few rounds. Makes me feel better about my 1960s .45ACP ammo too! He still had a full sardine can of 600 rounds in that locker!

In the last few years, I used up some Kynoch .303 Brit from 1933. Full power, full recoil, reasonably accurate.

nothing wrong with it if its as described. modern smokeless is incredibly stable when kept dry and cool
