Nosler Reloads
I'm getting into reloading again. I'm looking at Nosler Ballistic Silvertip bullet in 168gr for my 06. I was also looking at the Partition Gold but that comes in 150/180gr. Like to stay in the 165/168gr range but willing to change.

For those who have used them what did you think of them and experience with them
My average shot will be around 200-250 yards up to 400 yards.

I've used the Partition 165gr in the past (reloads) no complaints.

Thanks all.

I do believe the Partition Golds have been discontinued for quite some time. Regular Partitions are my favorite Hunting bullets.

Ballistic tips and Ballistic Silver tips suck. Use em if you wish, but don't blame me if you have spend a day or two tracking.

I've killed 4 elk with my Howa .308 using Nosler 150gr. ballistic tips and 47.5gr. BLC2
#1 495yds. (lasered) one shot fell like it was hit by lightening
#2 315yds. (lasered) one shot stone dead
#3 60yds. (paced) one shot went maybe 20 yds.
#4 35yds. (paced) one shot slid down the mountain farther than he ran.

I will say this, I shot a Oryx at 100yds. right in the shoulder and it just stood there and looked annoyed. The second shot was low in the neck and he went down.

I've since changed to Hornady 165gr BTSP Interlock. Not because of construction but because they just shoot tighter groups in my gun.

It really comes down to what you are hunting. For Whitetail a standard cup and core bullet will do nicely. Weight is not so critical. For tougher game I'd stick w/ the 165gr partition or above. See what your rifle shoots well and go from there.

IME, the 150 does well for elk sized game.

I have found the Nosler BT's to be very accurate. I shoot sub MOA groups in two different rifles of two different calibers.

Nosler Ballistic Silvertip's are my go to hunting bullets in my 25/06,308,30/06,300WM,and 458 SOCOM.
They perform like match grade bullets and expand very well if game isn't shot at close ranges, with the exception of the 458 SOCOM.It's a close range caliber, and those 300gr Silvertips work fine if they are pushed around 1600 fps or more.Even at slower speeds, they will knock down just about anything you shoot without expanding much.

Most people that have problems with the Ballistic tip bullets are either pushing it too fast,or shooting game at too close a range for the bullet to work correctly.
