New to 30-30 Win ammo purchasing - acceptable prices?

We bought our 30-30 about two months ago. Haven't been able to find ammo locally for it. Am considering buying some online, because my wife and I are itching to shoot it. The best price I can find right now is $.70 / round - $13.99 for a box of 20 shots. I'm torn. The trouble is I have no idea what pre-December prices for this caliber were. I refuse to buy ammo at inflated prices during this crisis, with very few exceptions. Is this a good price for the caliber, based on your experience, or is it still a bit high?

Thanks.

http://www.gutbot.net has their "good deal" threshold at .70/round. IDK if that means anything though...

That's where I found the deal I was talking about. I'm not sure if gunbot's threshold is pre or post December, though.

gosh. I would think having a box or two on hand would be worth the extra money. Then, start looking for the best price.

Maybe, but I will only be shooting this rifle for recreation for awhile. I won't enjoy it as much if I know I got hosed for a mere 20 rounds.

I have a thousand or so rounds of .22LR on hand at the moment, which is ok given the amount we can shoot nowadays. And some reloading supplies for our handguns. So, we're at least able to satiate part of the urge to shoot. Just not the 30-30 at the moment.

Id say that is around the averave price now days.

Occasionally I would get it for $12.99 per box before the shortage. $15 off sale is more the norm.

$12-$20 per box depending on the load is what I was paying for factory .30-30 ammo this time last year.

Thanks Doc. That's helpful. So my price I'm lookin at isn't completely out of the ballpark. I can prolly do that.

in my area, generally between $14-18 per box of 20, depending on the brand. so for me, $13 a box is decently priced. i mainly only buy the factory ammo for the brass anyways, because i reload for my 30-30. i still keep a couple of boxes of factory ammo on hand though.
