Want tiger into shotgun reloading but the only thing that is pulling back on making it worth the money is the price of lead shot...

I've seen the Littleton shot maker but it's 450 bucks and don't think I want to spend that..

Anyone do this? Or does anyone have a place to get some shot at a cheaper price... Lowest ican find is 40 bucks for a 25lb bag

That's not bad. I've paid more than that for a 7lb ingot. If you think about it you'll be around 1oz per round. That 25 lb bag is around 400 rounds.

Yeah it breaks down to about 9 cents a rd for just the shot... The other stuff is pennies too but I can buy ammo including tax for about 26 cents a round... I want to do my own jut to be able to..

Don't shoot to much but have gotten decent at shooting trap.. Got 2 rds the other day that were 23/25... Still lookin for that perfect game... Then I'll be really hooked!!

Hey that's a great score. If you shop around or buy more you may be able to save more. Even if you save $.10 a round it adds up.

That's tru as i did shoot 150 rds the other day.. My new berretta is so soft hitting that I can soot as long as I want to now... Or at least as long as I can afford lol..

Found a west coast company that sells reclaimed shot ... Size 7.5/8 mixed.. 4/25lb bags price is 29 bucks a bag...

Shipping is $75 to long island NY..

Anyone want to put an order together that's on long island?

From Sinclair.com here's a rough breakdown of prices..

Wads = .06
Primer = .04
Shot = .12
Powder = .07

This is per rd for everything... Ends of being .29 per rd.

Still kinda not worth it...

I can load shotshells way cheaper than I can buy them (if you consider quality to quality). Generic "dove and quail" loads are just crap. I think they must be subsidized by PETA because they pattern so poorly, it is difficult to actually kill a bird. My load shoots as well as the higher end AA shotshells at less than half the price.

For me it is more about self reliance anyway. I can load any centerfire ammo I shoot (and then some). I cast my own buckshot and slugs. There are a couple of people here that can attest to the accuracy of my slug loads at 100 yards (an I have made substantial improvements on the load since the get together).
