I need a good safe recipe for reloading my m1garand. I've read all kinds of info on powders, bullet weights and primers. Imr 4895 with a 168gr bullet and a winchester lr primer best duplicates m78 ball. Any suggestions?

My favorite load that is very accurate and a good deer load if you ever want to use the Garand to hunt with is 46 gr. of IMR 4895 with a 150 gr. Hornady Interlock bullet. CCI 200 primer.

The new Hornady Manual has a section specific to loading the M-1 Garand. Gunnuts information is right on the money. But normal hot factory 30-06 hunting ammunition should not be fired through the Garand. Could cause damage to the operating rod.
This is always an option as well if you run out of surplus ammo or don't reload and what to shoot commercial 06 ammo. Or you may have a Garand that's converted to a different caliber like 308.
