I averaged out the measurements & came up 1.956 as my "BTO" (base to ogive)

I was planning on loading 5 rounds each at -.010,-.015,-.020,-.025 & -.030. I will be using the same charge of 24.5 of Varget for all.

I am using 69 gr HPBT for a Savage 10 FCP.
On the Hodgon's site, it lists Varget at 24.0 gr min / 26 gr max. I shouldnt be worried about pressure too much...should I?

Is .010 to .030 jumps a waste?

Does this seem like a logical plan? Care to share your input?

What tricks do you guys have for setting the die up so precisely for the OAL wanted?

I use the Hornady bullet compartator but use the partially resized neck method in the first video instead of the Hornady OAL guage. I perfer to measure off the ogive and not the point of the bullet.

I have used this method to measure the COAL of my Sako 85 6.5x55, at first the measurements were all over the place, as I discovered because the case wasn't tight enough on the bullet. Neck sizing cured the problem yet still the measurements were not reproduceable. I discovered that the lands were gripping the bullet head momentarily as the bolt was being withdrawn, we are only talking 1/1000"s but still introducing error. By installing the test bullet already close to the COAL (slightly over) and gently closing the bolt the COAL reading became absolutely the same every time. It is worth mentioning I also use a comparator.
