I'm thinking of reloading Trailboss for my Trapdoor for less recoil. I currently load Accurate 5744(22 Grains) with a 405 FN cast bullet. Has any one tried the Trailboss in 45/70 or 45lc. Thanks for any info.

My FIL tried TrailBoss in 45LC we liked it but he loves recoil. Very consistant and light shooting, the cost of the powder is what turned him away. He loves 2400 in the 45LC.

I tried it in as my light 45 Colt loads -- I believe it is designed for "cowboy" loads that then to be on the light side. I thought it worked OK but found it to be much more susceptible to static charge than other powdered (Titegroup, Clays, VV, etc.). I had issues with it clinging to the drop tube and falling outside of the case -- no a showstopper but irritating. I switched back to Titegroup and occassionally Clays.
