Default Lead free green bullet!!!

I have read about the new regs that the EPA put on lead which means our bullets... Has anyone used the new lead free ammo??? If so how accurate is it??? Does it mess up the gun barrel???

So far in 9mm, same accuracy at the usual handgun drill ranges (which is the shooter's accuracy anyway). No messing up the barrel. In a blind comparison, I probably wouldn't tell which mag is loaded "lead free". There is no proof they are less toxic, only a conjecture. The only difference I could appreciate is the higher price tag.

Barnes makes lead free bullets. They expansion is great but ballistics change because of mass/weight. Any duck hunter will tell you steel shot does not have the energy of lead at long range.

That's because steel shot doesn't have the same mass for the same size pellet. Bullets are different from shot in how their profiles and weight perform coefficients and mass being equal retained energy at range will be equal. Shot pellets are different because the coefficients are different due to mass.

Dangerous game hunters have been using copper solids for decades against the most dangerous creatures on the planet because they don't lose mass and penetrate better than copper coated lead

Isnt safe bullets and oxymoron? It does seem foolish that things made purposely to kill are now required to be safe to eat! Not so with CFL's, because they are made to emit light not kill they are allowed to kill if eaten! Its a crazy world out there, stay inside where its sane!

Lead free means higher price tag. In handgun ammo it is generally powdered copper/polymer compressed into a bullet. This makes for "environmentally safe, frangible" ammo. Expensive stuff.

Barnes also makes solid copper, lead free hollow point pistol bullets. Limited ammo availability.

In rifles, you are also looking at Barnes bullets, though there is some availability of frangible "green" ammo in .223 and .308
