Kegs Of Powder Available
I have some kegs of powder available to me and I don't have the time to do the research if it will work for me. I have not used these powders before so I am asking if I should pick them up. I reload .223 for a Mini-14, .30/06 for a savage 110 and a 1903 Springfield.
The powders are Hodgdon Hybrid 100V and H1000 and IMR 5010. Total of 40 lbs of powder.
I don't want to just pick them up and put them away in the event that I one day would get a gun that will use these powders, but I hate to pass it up as well. On the other hand I could sell them if I cant use them and pass the cash back to the guy I get them from.
What do you advise

No. The guy I am getting this from wanted to build one but never got around to it. I wish I had one but the .50 BMG is currently banned in CA.

I know the IMR 5010 is pretty much for the Big .50. Can it be used in other calibers?

LoadData only lists 2 cartridges for IMR-5010, the 50BMG and the .264 WinMag. There may be others but that's all I found.

If you google IMR 5010 there is a fair amount of info. Sounds like many have used it in smaller cartridges but it leaves a bunch of unburned powder behind. Many used duplex loads to help prevent that mess. Sounds like a poor choice except for emergency use.

Grains of 5010 are about the size of a grain of rice. Not going to meter worth a hoot.
Check load data on the two Hogdon powders on their website- may work for 30-06.

LoadData has a lot of rounds listed for the 100V, your .223 and 30-06 are in the list.
The H1000 list is nearly twice as long and also includes your .223 and 30-06.
Click the link below and type "1000" or "100V" in the Powder Type box and select Hodgdon from the manufactures list to see what's listed. There's to many cartridges to list here.

I guess my question should have been: Do any of you load these powders and find them to perform well in .223 and .30/06? It sounds like the .223 will not perform well with the IMR 5010 (incomplete combustion) but how about the .30/06 (aside from metering issues).
