J&Gs Lee Reloading Set
1 Attachment(s)
I just got an Email from J&Gs Sales saying they have the Lee 50th Anniversary Set for $119. I have been interested in reloading, and this seems cheap but I know I still need to get dies, powder, brass, projectiles, primers, ect. Is this worth getting? If I remember J&G Sales shipping is high. Here's a screenshot of the email for all the details.

I just checked the shipping. It's $19 for shipping and the total would end up being $138.

Midwayusa has the kit listed on their site for $115 and optics planet has it for $135 with free shipping. The biggest question is whether or not anyone has it in stock.

That's what I use. I replaced the scale with a digital one, but everything else works great.

Lee makes pretty decent reloading equipment. i use quite a few of their dies and other accessories and have had pretty good results so far.

price seems decent enough.

Been there, done that.
What is your intended use?
If you shoot a lot, step up a notch or two to the Lee Classic Turret (at least.) If you only plan to shoot a couple hundred rounds per year, you will be fine. More than that (couple hundred per month..), you will want more productivity, unless you simply have a ton of time on your hands. Be advised, reloading does tend to create a significant surge in ammo consumption.
The scale is annoying but serviceable. I replaced it with a Redding.
The Lee Perfect Powder measure is actually decent is many respects, once you adjust to it. It is however, not particularly good with large flake powders (Unique in particular.) I suspect that stick powders might pose a challenge as well, though I have no direct experience with that variable. It does ok with finer powders (Bullseye & AA#5), but it leaks. A higher quality measure will be in your future. I went with a Redding 3BR myself.
