Default Identify this cartridge???

I've been working on an ammo collection and a friend of mine donated this cartridge to me. It looks very similar to a Russian 7.62x54R but it has no rim.

Here it is next to some comparisons...7.92 Mauser, Cartridge in question, .303 British, .30-30, and a 7.62x39

What's the bullet diameter? If it's 7.62, it might be 7.62 x 53? AKA
Argentine Mauser.

Looks like Romanian 8x57. Steel case.

What is the case length? If the bullet is the same diameter as the .303 Brit, I'm guessing it's a 7.7x58 Japanese.

If the bullet is the same diameter as the 7.92 then it's just a steel cased 8mm Mauser (7.92 x 57).

Come on guys.
Plant 22, Romania (address and actual name unknown)
78 is the year made.

The link I posted has it. S34 is the bullet, 22 is the plant, then the year.
