How old is that .22 Ammo you just bought?

This is a useful site I found recently that helped me determine the age of some CCI Minimags I bought (vintage 1971)

An amazing amount of detail on packaging variations of .22 rimfire Ammo.

Thanks. That is an interesting site.

That's a crazy amount of information.

Does the age affect performance, is there a half life on ammo?

I'm shooting .22lr from the 70's. so I doubt it. Hell the 30.06 I have Is from WWII

Thanks for the posting. The link was the most interesting one I have seen posted in quite some time. The internet is great for allowing someone with a passion to publish their information. I've got a 50+ year old box of 22's that I'm going to dig out and see if I can find out more about them.

Very cool! I have a box of .22 short HP's from my childhood that I need to look up.

Shooting 1971 CCI MINI MAGS VS new stock MINI MAGS.
1971 Fewer failure to fires but the energy is not as consistent so in my sig mosquito I get a few failure to ejects even with the lower velocity spring. But I paid a dime a round last month for the old ammo good for the range wouldn't load it for protection.
