I'm presently loading match ammo (.223), for my match AR, to shoot the short line (200&300yds.). I'm using new Lapua cases, 77 SMKs, and RL15 powder. I really don't want to weigh charges, but my Dillon measure on my 550, is throwing weight variances with an extreme spread of about .5 grain. I'm purposely keeping the weight away from max, to avoid problems, and weigh every charge for the 600 yd. loads, but I was wondering if you guys would find this acceptable for the short line loads.

I weigh every load, even my hunting loads, and only use a single stage press,don't like the progressive.

My Dillon throws charges that are w/in .15 grains of each other. I have never used RL-15 and am not familiar with this powder and how it meters. If it is a fine grained powder it should do better than .5 gr varience.

.5 is a bit much for me. I might try a different powder or send the measure back to Dillon, it may be FUBAR.

I have Dillon 550b and love it. My ooold single stage is wrapped up on a shelf. I have not experiened any problems. But I do check, visually, every round and weigh every 5th or 6th.

When loading on your Dillon it is best to use only ball powders. The Dillon will drop them the same every time. I`ve got several guns that will keep groups under 1/2 moa consistantly and a couple that will keep groups under .300 with ammo loaded on my Dillon, but I only use ball powders.
