I just got started reloading and am already looking at more upgrades for the reloading bench. So far the Lee Measure that came with the kit I bought works well but I thought adding a powder measure that is not attached to the die would be nice. I found a Hornady at a Big R for $69.99. Would that be a good deal and a good measure to buy?
I could keep the Lee measure on that die head and use a stand alone for everything else. Or, just keep switching the Lee from one to another.
No experience with the Hornady, but my RCBS that came in the kit worked great. I weighed each throw when loading my first 100. I had been warned about the RCBS's inconsistency, but they were all on the money. I'm sure the Hornady powder measure is GTG. Just remember to clean all the oil out of it from the manufacturing process. I used mineral spirits but brake cleaner or paint thinner would probably work better. Also, run a full pound of powder through it before you start loading. This will coat the parts and should make for more consistent throws. Good Luck!
