As the OP did not post the round or the Velocities only the Foot Pounds, I checked out Grizzly's web site.

I found a 175gr Extreme 45 ACP +P round claiming 1200fps. Is this the round we are discussing here?

The info I found did not list the barrel length to go along with their velocity data. Assuming is a bad idea, but I will "assume" they used a 5 inch barrel.

1200fps in 45 ACP +P with a five inch barrel will NOT "Destroy a Handgun". It may be hot, but it is no where near the pressures needed to "Destroy".

Western powders has 45 ACP +P data that sends a 185gr (10gr Heavier) jacketed bullet down range at 1161 fps with only 22,600psi.

Nothing to be concerned about here, just a normal +P load running at typical low pressure 45 ACP loads.

BTW, a 1911 will run smooth as silk all day long at 37K in a 10MM, 22+K in a 45, nothing to worry about.

That's the one. You are correct, they did not disclose the test weapon.

Seeing that there is load data out there to support Grizzly's velocity claim, do you still feel this ammo will, probably destroy a handgun, but what a way to go!

Default Grizzly Ammunition: Holy Cow!

Hot ammunition does accelerate wear.

I myself only shoot my hot loads sparingly,, most of my practice is done with mild reloads. I agree that a steady diet of heavy loads can definitely increase wear on any firearm. I may put only a magazine or two of my hot defense loads through my weapon every few months just to recall it's point of impact and at defensive ranges , it's not much difference,, practice with the light stuff and when carrying, stoke up with the hot. Besides, the hot ammo is very expensive compared to standard rounds.

I bought some underwood ammo about a year ago. It was a 135 gr hollow point for the 40s&w and I chronographed it over 1600 ft/s...Talk about speed. It was out of my G35 though but still, it was impressive
