Default Great load for your M1-A!

I was shooting my new Springfield Match Grade M1-A (.308 Win.) at a Ft. Benning Match several years ago with GI Ball ammo........an older retired Army Vet came over to look at my new acquisition......He said "Son I am going to save you a lot time and expense on working up a load for that new piece you got there." He handed me a 3x5 card and on it (hand written):

168 Gr. Sierra BTHP
39 Grains of Hodgdon H322
CCI Match Primer
Match Brass

I checked the load in my manual, then loaded up 25 rounds.........Well the old Sgt. was right on........the load in my rifle was a tack driver!.....Have tried lots of powders & bullets, nothing shoots any better............enough! Thanks, W.T.

I have not tried H322. Which brass are you using for this? LC match, Fed match, BHM? Capacities vary on each.

Thanks.

Thanks. I'll do some research on H322 loads and keep this in mind.

Have you chronoed the load?
