Thats it.

You haven't even hit the point of stock piling not even close.

I still have that much in parts out in the reloading room.

I would need a roll of film....

i got enough components atm to make around 30,000 rounds of ammo i generally dont load any till i need it and keep 20 rounds of both .458winmag 525grn SP and 20 rounds of 458Lott 525 grn SP on hand as well as 100 rounds for both 458winmag and lott in the 350 grain variety along with 500 .45acp 500 5.56 and 500 .308 and 10,000 rounds of .22LR on hand at any given time. i have been of late choosing components that work in many various loadings across calibers so i can load what i need at any given time. .45 308 5.56 and 458winmag and 458 Lott are my main loadings. '

a few boxes of this and that and i am not a ammo hoarder by any stretch compaired to some other folks round this forum. they make me look like i got nothing. i would keep more loaded on hand but i dont have the room to store that much ammo in my gun safe and i gotta pretty big safe.

CA357 01-10-2010 06:13 PM

If I may suggest some basic storage guidelines, try to keep a minimum of 1,000 rounds of ammunition per handgun, a bare minimum of 2 to 3 thousand rounds of rifle ammunition per rifle, 500+ rounds of 12ga. slugs and 00 buck and at least another 1k of game loads.

If the shtf, you won't be able to run to the gun shop or buy online. When you practice, replace what you shoot and add an extra box or two. After a while, it adds up and doesn't flatten your wallet.

Yup - I gots some ammo

Have a coupla cases of 12 gauge around here somewhere. I need to do an ammo inventory but high power centerfire rounds must be getting close to 10K. There is another 3 or 4 ammo cases full of 9 mm and 45 ACP that did not get in these pictures.

Between the Black Powder, smokeless powder and live rounds, if my house ever catches on fire, I am NOT calling 911, I am just running like hell!

I try to add some ammo to the safe, once a month, or atleast every six weeks. I will order online if there is a sale, or I will stop and pick up a few boxes here or there.

I have about 1,300 of .22lr, for example. I had one pistol that shoots .22 and I have (2) rifles that shoot it, prior to that damn boating accident. :(

However, in the event of some sort of SHTF situation, .22lr ammo will be great for hunting small game and for trading with other like minded folks.

Now, I also had bigger guns, and those weapons had formidable stockpiles, but I don't feel I have ever had "enough" to feed them all for more than the first year of so.

The key is pick up some ammo when you can, so if something happens, you don't need to worry about trying to fight the masses to load up.
