Exactly. It wasn't a panic from a school shooting, it was panic from fear that from a political side who wants to take away our constitutional rights might win. I mostly finished stocking up by the time McCain was the replublican choice.

Bought some ammo. from them many months ago from the web site.
Price was ok.
Shipping was ok.
But today,
**** M.
Don't need ammo bad enough to cater to them.

Depending on where you are Academy and Wal Mart still have or carry ammo at reasonable prices! You just have to be there early to get it. Down load the wal mart app and in the search bar enter what you looking for and it will tell you the nearest store with on hands and they are pretty accurate. Georgetown, cedar park, round rock, Hutto and pfligerville wal marts have ammo regularly just be there by 6:30 am the limit it three per person. Hope this helps

I bought 500 .40 S&W for $209.00 at the Salem Va Gun Show about 3 months ago.

If you are looking for quality ammo then there are sites that will list based on price per round like these - just select your caliber and parameters:

http://www.slickguns.com/category/ammo
http://ammoseek.com/?from=resultspage&gun=rimfire&cal=91&grains=0&mfg= &ikw=&ekw=&noblanks=noblanks&sortby=cpr
http://www.gunbot.net/ammo/rimfire/

These sites serve two purposes for me.
- They list the best prices per round - a good bench-mark
- They list places to buy some of which I have not heard of at this time

By the way - you wont see Gander Mountain listed on too many listings as they are not price leaders
thanks for the info!

that is pretty damn good for 500 of 9mm.....it seems for whatever reason.....bulk 40 is everywhere here & cheap!!!! 9 is available, but not as cheap as i'd like....

i'm actually pretty loaded up for plinking 9....but I am trying to keep a bit of a stash in these ammo disappearing days.

the main reason for the post was I guess I was just surprised that they were asking so much more than academy and cabelas....similar stores.....but it seems gander has sooo much ammo cause they are soooo overpriced.

Yes. The day I went, I stopped at BassPro before looking at ammo. When I went to Gander I found the same turkey Nitro Shells for $2.87 more per box and $4 more on .270 cartridges.
