I'm still pretty new to the reloading scene, and since I started I've been experimenting a bit, trying to find some powder I like and whatnot. Lately I've been running low. Damn near out of Silhouette. So I did some research on what type to try next, and I decided on Bullseye. I know it's a tried and true powder, but like I said I'm still new and learning.

My wife and I decided to go as far as San Jose (about an hour from us in good traffic) to get some. I called about a dozen gun stores in San Jose yesterday to see what they had in stock. Found two with the powders I'm interested in (the other being Unique). When we called again today, the one was out of both. So we went to the last hope and he had some Bullseye. Limit of one 1 pound jug per customer. I guess we cheated, because my wife and I were each separate customers. so we got 2 lbs. $35 / jug. Is that reasonable? I don't wanna perpetuate the crisis or anything, but we needed powder and who knows how long I'll be waiting if we order it online.

Anyway, I'm mostly just glad to have got the exact powder I wanted. And two lbs would last a fair amount of time. Also, glad to support a local gun store, even if they're not that local to us.

Just thought I'd share.

JWS Don't fell bad about having your lady buying powder too, she does shoot what you reload also ?? If not no big deal , at least you had a day with her doing your shopping... LOL . As far as prices you area don't know if that is good or bad for ya'll , just remember the LGS pay mazmat & shipping too, plus their price may be up also. My last powder purchase here in Charlotte NC was about 42.00 for 2 LBS of Accurate, AA2200 & AA#2. This was from a small hardware store off of the beaten path, at this point in time finding powder at any price is almost priceless. Mickey

Everything is math when reloading. There 7000 gr in a lb. of powder. 5.7gr/round (45ACP). 7000/5.7=1228 rounds. $35/1228=2.9 cents/round

If that is cost effective for you then it's a good deal.

She sure does shoot what I reload.

I know I can get a better price online if I buy an 8 lbs jug, but I don't low how long I'd be waiting for it to come in. End of the day, I'm pleased to have powder, and that's what I was expecting to pay.

You being happy with price is all that matters , around here at home , primers are our hens teeth. I paid 35 @ 1000 for WLR & was happy to find them. It should get better over time & besides cheaper to shoot reloads than retail..... LOL. MICKEY

$35 a pound is more than I am willing to pay around here. It may well not be a bad price in Kali. All that really mattes is if you feel good about it. I have been searching for Blue Dot and Unique for a while. Alliant is working 24/7 and so far unable to keep up with demand (according to their customer service).
