.357 is the minimum in ohio, no specifics on load.

For me the 44 mag. It's great for hunting, defense against dangerous animals if needed and self defense if needed also.

For a long time, here in Ks, the .357 mag was the shortest case length allowed for deer. Now, we are allowed to use ANY centerfire rifle or pistol cartridge, with no restrictions on barrel, caliber, or anything. Im not in agreeance with it, but the state didnt ask me. Im sure that someone will try to take a deer with a .25 auto. Lol.

The .357 mag is my personal favorite pistol cartridge. I enjoy it quite abit more than touching off my .44 mag.

The good thing about someone trying with a 25auto is that more than likely it would just bounce off might give him a bruise. Unless they walk up to 2' and gut shoot them like a low down yellow belly scoundrel cheating poker player.

The .25 can be deadly with a good shot close. Even a .22 can watch YouTube video of a guy shooting long rifle at 100 yards into a deer head. It cleans plenty enought through to drop one. I wouldn't but its possible.

I have 4 favorites.
45 Colt for hunting, plinking, and quick draw competition.
44 Magnum for hunting and target shooting
22 LR and 22 WMR for small game, target shooting, plinking, and just all around fun and cheap to shoot.

So far .357 Magnum is the clear winner.

I want a long barreled colt 45 with the kit that lets you convert the pistol grip to a rifle stock during a firefight. Just like in a cowboy movie I saw once......

I wonder if it exists in real life? (The kit not the gun, I know that exists LoL) I've wanted that gun ever since I was a kid.

Lee Van Cleef the Bad in "The Good, the Bad and theUgly". I'm sure one of the Italian replica firearms makers has one.

44 magazine here, with noted 44 special practice loads. 357mag and 38 special follow a close second. 22 LR is my third choice, just too much fun to shoot not to be on the list...

I would add the 41 but don't own one any more...
