Curious as to what everyone is handloading these days. My standard .45 ACP load has been 5.8 grs of WW 231, with a 200gr SWC (H&G type) lead bullet--lately Berry's copper plated. Primers vary, and at these pressures don't seem to make a difference. I also load same round with 5.3 grs of 231 for practice. This load came from my days of shooting USPSA/IPSC as it made major power, and it stuck with me. I've also used HP-38 in place of 231 occasionally as they are virtually clones. What's everyone else loading?

Lately i've been loading 6 gr Unique for a 230 gr hard cast bullet. Cheap and accurate.

I will be using 200 grain Laser Cast lead bullets for my first batch. Going to try two different powders the first being Blue Dot and the other IMR 800x with CCI primers. I'm going to see what I can get out of them, I want a good target load so I can practice more often with my carry gun and 1911. I dont know my starting grain weights at the moment because I dont have my sheet I wrote down for the batches I'm going to do.
I really want to get my hands on some Unique but our gun shop doesnt have any in-stock. Let yall know how it turns out.

I'll be interested to hear about your Blue Dot loads--personally I've found Blue Dot to be a little too slow burning for .45 ACP--leaves a lot of powder residue and can flame out the barrel, especially with 200 grain or lighter loads--but some people have success with it. Good luck.

I've had good luck using Hodgdon Titegroup powder and some 200gr FMJRN Rainier Leadsafe bullets. For target practice i usually load 5.0gr, for carry i load at 5.4gr.

200 gr Rainer rn or TCFP on top of 5 gr Titegroup with any case and any primer. Makes for a nice easy shooting plinking load for me.

I see warren like 5 grs of titegroup as well.

I've noticed Tightgroup and Clays have become new favorites around the range--I use Clays almost exclussively in my 12 ga loads, and it is extremely clean burning in them. Once my 231 is gone I'll try some Tightgroup--I see on the burning chart that Tightgroup is quite a bit faster burning than 231/HP-38--it's probably pretty efficient in a shorter barrel .45...

I've been using Titegroup for about 2 years now in all my pistols. I load 380, 38spl,40SW, and 45ACP with it. Results have been good in all of them.

I use Bullseye at 5gr. with 230 gr. ball from Sierra and CCI primers. and for my jhp 225 gr. Bullseye at 5.2 gr.

I have a can of bullseye and try not to use it. 1. it is one of the dirtiest powders I have ever used. and 2. lots and lont of kabooms with it.
