I don't own a 38 anymore. I bought a box of 38+P 125GR JHP yesterday because they didn't have any 357 ammo. Then afterwards I was thinking that I have a couple of boxes of 125GR JHP in .357 so what did I buy those for?? So what good are they if I am going to use them in a 357 and not a 38??

I have no idea why you purchased them other than you state that the dealer was out of 357 ammunition. You could always use them practice at the range, but reloaded 357s are going to much cheaper. If you are not a reloader and plan to use 125 gr 357 ammo as a personal defense load, I would suggest trying to return the ammunition and purchase the 357 ammo later or from another dealer.

I shoot more .38's out of my .357 than I do .357's. It's cheaper, more comfortable, and much less wear and tear on the gun. I reload +p's for my general plinking, and with 158gr. HPSWC's, I wouldn't hesitate to use them in a defensive scenario. .357Mags have way too much penetration with summer clothing! __________________ Guns Have Only Two Enemies-Rust and Politicians

F Prefect.........As far as I know ammo is not returnable. So since I am stuck with it I will have to shoot it....
RL......I will start saving my brass if you want it. I don't reload any more (long story)
So it looks like I either have to shoot it or get a 38....haha

Thanks for the offer OC but I really don't need anymore. I have probably 1000 rds. of .38spl and several hundred .357Mags. I hardly shoot it anymore since I only use a shoulder holster in the winter to carry it. __________________ Guns Have Only Two Enemies-Rust and Politicians

If I were you, I'd go ahead and buy a Ruger LCR in .38 +p just to rid yourself of the ammo purchase. __________________ From C3Shooter:

Send me a PM with your address-I would be more than happy to send you a MO for shipping of ANY brass that you are not using! __________________ NRA Life MEMBER 1976 |

^^I guess I will start saving brass again and maybe I can look into getting reloads or something. Meantime I might get a chance to try some 38+P tomorrow.

I fired 5 cylinder loads of the 38 special +P and 5 cyl loads of the 357 magnum (60 rounds total) out of the Python today. There's no mistaking the difference.
