Default Dare I say, I think I see light at the end of ammo tunnel

Well....
You heard it first folks, I have now seen small bits of ammo in popular calibers at not one, not two, but 3 places in the last 2 weeks. My LGS FINALLY got some 9mm ammo and theyve opened up from the 1-box shooting only limit (for their range) to 2 boxes...and even sold some out the door. WalMart also had 4 boxes of 9mm and 8-9 boxes of Remington .45acp and lastly, I didnt see it myself but heard from a friend that his LGS is selling small bits of 9mm and .40. Also, .223 seems to be the caliber making the biggest comeback as my LGS is allowing 100 rounds per person per day.

Now, this aint much but its already MUCH better than it was as of last month. Living in the densely populated Northeast I think its a pretty fair litmus test of how things (hopefully) are beginning to balance out. Hopefully the jerkoff ammo price gougers online get the message and people stop paying $0.75 per round online for .223

What's everyone else's situation where you live? Focusing mainly on the popular calibers like 9mm, 38 special, 40sw, 45acp and 223/5.56

The match/custom loaded stuff started showing up earlier at prices not much higher than before the scare. Even found some Alient Unique a week ago. I'm waiting on most 223 or 9mm till prices get down near pre-scare. I paid $400/1000 for bulk 223 late last year, so that is my benchmark. Paid in the 300's per thousand mid last year.

ammo has not been on the walmart shelves.. the LGS here have never really run out of ammo... just the prices got jacked way up. the only thing i did see was .22lr was gone everywhere....

just me but seems as though if a few entrepreneur's decided to open up a few ammo factory's they would make lots of money. lol

I feel sorry for a lot of y'all. The shortage hit West Monroe pretty late, and pretty mildly. Now, my local store has sagging shelves, and crates upon crates in the floor of all popular "tactical" ammo (2.23, 5.56, 7.62X39 and X54, .308) but they can't seem to find any 5.45.

They even have .22 in abundance. Granted it's the more expensive stuff.

That's the local hardware store. Walmart and academy can't seem to get their act together.

It's being sold at near pre panic prices too.

Yeah I knew it as soon as I saw the thread title. SOMEBODY...went and jinxed it by daring the ammo gods.

Methinks some markets are just going to come back slower than others. I anticipate walmart being the last in line as thats where many ranges and LGS go for their ammo anyway.

I don't use either caliber...
I was just pointing out that it seems to be the only thing they can't get.

I would be willing to play middle man for ya, and just buy and ship, but you know shipping is going to be murder.

Just saw 5.56 for the 2nd time in 2 weeks at local Wallyworld, plenty of American Eagle 9mm fmj($31.99/50) @ a non-local GS, past weekend and just saw 8 boxes of .40 S&W @ Wallyworld, including 2 Federal Premier 100 rnd. boxes @ $29.98/ea.

I went to my LGS today. I bought two boxes of PMC 5.56 20 count for $14.95 each..... About double normal price but I had to have it.

He was selling Federal 9mm FMJ 50 count for $37.95 per box. About triple normal price.

22LR was $9.99 for a small 50 count box. He was selling unboxed 50 count ( in small plastic bags) for $8.95. About 8X normal price.

He is high but Academy, Gander Mountain and all the Walmart stores are still out. I do hope this is nearing the end of this foolishness.
