Default CMP is out of all ammo

I checked the CMP web site today and all the ammo they were selling is marked as sold out. They said in house orders before a September date will be filled. Expect 6-12 months for shipment.

The CMP is the Civilian Marksmanship Program. I may be wrong but I think CMP ammo comes from Camp Perry in Ohio. This is government surplus ammo sold through the Civilian Marksmanship Program.

I shot a CMP match here in Wisconsin a few years back so I could qualify to buy a Garand from the government through the CMP. This is a picture of me shooting at that match using my buddies Garand. When you shoot these matches, you use surplus ammo and at the time of this match, I think I payed ten cents a round.

P.S. I have lots of 30-06 ammo just in case there's trouble.

It depends on the availability of the firearms and the ammo. I'm not sure as I have not visited there web site lately. Try a web search for the CMP.

Check out there prices. I know the 30.06 and the M1 carbine ammo was cheaper than anyone else.

You aren't the only one; i remember reading a thread about some rifles (M-1's i bleve) that might be coming back from some Asian country & might be available through the CMP. I was sitting here wondering what in the heck Mountie's had to do with selling rifles to Americans.

Those would be Korean sell backs. We gave them to Korea now they're selling them back on the civilian market. CMP is not getting any, they will come back through importers.
