A friend of mine picked up a few rounds of 50 BMG for display purposes and gave one to me, but it has a few imperfections, I'd like to lightly polish it to bring back the luster of new brass and copper, but I'm not sure of how to go about it, or what to use. I don't want to get crazy with it, it isn't a museum piece.

Anyway, I DO NOT want to de-mil the round, I feel that it would be a waste, what do you guys suggest?

I would suggest demilling it and tumbling.

Alternatively, flitz on a soft cloth and some effort should work

You could use steel wool and chuck the round in a drill for a quick spin.

I hear the Navy used to run off that stuff. But now that you brought it up I may try to get some, it may work for a few cases that are fouled but don't have enough to run through a tumbler.

I know the Marine Corps used to! I spent an entire day as a recruit polishing the bell outside of the Weapons Training Battalion building on Parris Island with Brasso. Work Week was awesome!
