Default bullet lube

It seems to me that bullet lube is really just some wax with oil/lube mixed in. The wax is used to suspend the oil. So really just a crude mix of paraffin and some oil or lube would work. I mean... it's all the same crap right? C12-C25 carbon chains. Slick texture, high boiling point....

Hell, veggie oil+paraffin might even work.

Natural oils like veggie or even crisco are about as good as it gets for bp. You have to figure back in the day they didn't have bore butter or anything like that. If it came down to it they would use pork fat.

I have very good results with Rooster Laboratories
Zambini Red." Thompson's "Blue Angel" is also superb.

If you want to make your own, buy some liquid alox from Lee and mix it 50/50 with beeswax.

Well my bullet lube doesn't require any of those properties. I intend only to use it for my slug mold. Because of the wad I don't need to lube the slug. Paraffin and oil it is. I may decide to spring for beeswax. Or I might just salvage some from a nearly empty chap stick tube I have. I only need a little bit for now.

Midway USA sells a spray lube for molds. Very handy, and effective. I've used it on numerous molds.

I made some one time. It was 1/3 lb of parafin wax, 1/3 lb of beeswax and 1 tbl spoon of petrolium jelly. It works great. I have shot it in 44 mag without a gas check. Full power magnum loads that did not lead the barrel. I was very happy.

You DO NOT want to lube the mold. The Lee molds like a bit of bulet lube on the locator pins. Lubricating the actual cavity will give you really crappy results.

I assumed he was talking about the bullets themselves.
