Default Birdshot in .38 spl cases

Anybody out there who has loaded birdshot into 38 special cases? If so, what do you use for the wadding and how much of what powder is right. I have heard 3.5 grains of bullseye works. Also someone mentioned gaschecks for over powder and top wad. Any comments?

You need to use a different title than your user name. A title is a summary or topic of the discussion you are posting.

I've used the Speer shot capsules (do they still make them?), and yes, 3.5 of Bullseye was about right. From a 4" barrel, 6 feet was about the max range for the pattern (didn't own a chrono then so i have no idea about the velocity).
